Limoncello Italian Grill, a favorite in the North Palm Beach area since 2005 for excellent
regional Italian cuisine, specializing in owner Mario Ghini’s signature classic Bolognese cuisine from his native Emilia-Romagna region, home to the richest cuisine in Italy and products like Prosciutto di Parma, Parmigiano Reggiano, Balsamic Vinegar, ethereal fresh pastas and tortellini, and pork products (mortadella). Ghini owned the beloved and renowned Pappagallo in Glen Head, Long Island for years, regarded as one of the New York area’s finest Italian restaurants. When Mario retired to Florida, he felt a calling to return to what he loved–preparing excellent authentic Italian and Bolognese cuisine, and pleasing patrons, many of whom frequented Pappagallo in New York. Limoncello is a Golden Palate Partner™ and will be featured with recipes in Fred’s upcoming healthy-gourmet weight loss & lifestyle book–destined to be the epitome of “where healthy meets gourmet!™”
Enjoy lunch or dinner at one of the top Italian restaurants in the Palm Beaches and be treated to a feast for all the senses at Limoncello! Specialties include freshly made pastas as you would find in Bologna, including their signature multi-layer (at least 12) spinach lasagna with Bolognese Meat Sauce, Bechamel, and Parmigiano–perfection…the stuffed artichoke, a great dish to share for the table, along with imported Prosciutto di Parma, sliced to order from the beautiful, old-fashioned Prosciutto slicing machine from Italy in the center of the dining room! The menu features excellent salads, pastas, meat, and seafood dishes. Three specials on a recent visit were fantastic–a thick swordfish “steak” grilled, then finished with tomato, olives, and capers (exceptionally fresh, and light), a succulent bone-in grilled Veal Chop topped with a roasted tomato and melted fresh mozzarella, and pasta with prosciutto and tomato, tossed hot inside a wheel of Parmigiano-Reggiano, rendering a creamy pink sauce–magnifico!
For dessert, we enjoyed lemon sorbet served inside a lemon (perfect for a restaurant named Limoncello). Limoncello features a full liquor bar, with an approachable wine list with many great selections from Italy that are reasonably priced. We enjoyed a bottle of Umberto Cesari “Sangiovese Romagna” from Emilia Romagna, priced at $42. There are also a number of good selections by the glass. Note: Limoncello will be relocating in the coming months, but not moving very far. Stay tuned for updates!
See you in North Palm Beach, and please tell Mario and the folks at Limoncello that Fred Bollaci sent you, and buon’ appetito!
