Chic, beautiful, Scandinavian-Inspired Slow Food by Chef James Carpenter (ex Della Femina) is one of the hottest spots in The Hamptons! Their philosophy is simple: We owe it to the planet to eat good food. So we do our utmost to adhere to the Slow Food movement’s principles, with a Scandinavian twist. No nonsense. Enjoy dinner, lunch, afternoon tea, breakfast, yappy hour and all other in between snacks. The luxury boutique hotel is also one of the hottest spots out east, with hip decor, great service, and a contemporary, yet warm, welcoming Swedish ambience.
The Living Room prioritizes the use of organic, locally sourced and seasonally appropriate ingredients, including herbs fresh from the herb garden out back, fish from the waters around Long Island and local game. All bread, pastries and Swedish cookies are baked on site. As dedicated Swedes, certain products must be imported so as to remain authentic–such as the cheddar cheese that goes into a Västerbotten pie.
This is definitely the place to indulge! Start with White Sturgeon Caviar, blinis, and crème fraiche with Champagne, then choose from delectable soups, salads, and starters, including: Roasted Vegetable Soup, Local Little Neck Clam Marinières white wine, cream, parsley, Cripsy Peconic Bay Oysters with dill aioli, red onion, and löjrom, Brie en Croute marion berry jam, Duck Liver Mousse with sour cherry, pistachio, and brioche, Local Corn Soup with radish, chive, and feta, Honey Roasted Baby Beet Salad with artisan greens, toasted hazelnut, blood orange, house ricotta, Baby Wedge Salad smokey bacon, and gorgonzola, and Heirloom Tomato Salad with farmstead cheese, radish, corn, and buttermilk dressing.
Favorite entrees include: Pan Roasted Icelandic Cod with local clams and lima beans, The Living Room Burger, Pork Porterhouse with roasted fig and bacon braised collards, Grilled Flat Iron Steak with artisan greens, white anchovy, roasted garlic, and pecorino, Köttbullar (Swedish Meatball) with potato puree, lingonberry jam, pickled cucumber, Long Island Duck Breast
with baby beets, rye berries, buttermilk, and nasturtium, and Spinach Fettuccine with oxtail and pecorino, and Buttermilk Fried Rabbit Leg & Rabbit Sausage corn, piquillo, duck fat cornbread, and petite greens.
