Situated overlooking a mangrove estuary and Old Tampa Bay on the grounds of the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay, Oystercatchers has been a local favorite for over 25 years, featuring excellent regional seafood, a decadent Sunday Brunch, and beautiful views of the bay and has been named a Fred Bollaci Enterprises Preferred Destination–one of the best spots in Tampa Bay for fresh seafood and stellar views!
The restaurant, which was recently renovated features modern decor to complement the setting, and the cuisine of Michael Chong, who adds innovative touches to the freshest catch. The menu features freshest wild and line-caught fish, prepared to enhance their natural flavors. A house favorite is the Stuffed Whole Snapper. Oystercatchers wine list features good selections by the glass and bottle from major regions of the world.
For starters on the dinner menu, indulge in a selection of caviar, as well as a selection of fresh oysters. Other appetizer favorites are classic Oysters Rockefeller with spinach, fennel, and Hollandaise, Salmon Tartar Tacos, Ahi Poke with avocado, Wikamme Salad, chile dressing, Sriracha, and chive oil. Other favorites include a Gulf Shrimp Cocktail, She Crab Bisque, Coconut Key Lime Mussels, Citrus Cured Bay Scallops, and Arugula Salad with Bosc Pear, walnuts, cranberries, and Maytag Blue Cheese with white balsamic.
As the name would suggest, the focus here is definitely fresh seafood, which can be grilled over pecan wood, blackened, or sautéed. Choices include Mahi Mahi from local Gulf waters, Loch Duart Salmon (sustainable from Scotland), local Black Grouper, Yellowfin Tuna from Florida’s Atlantic coast, Sea Scallops, local Snapper, and Whole Main Lobster (option to stuff it with crab).
Plated specialties include Tataki Diver Scallops, Pan Roasted While Snapper with sautéed baby vegetables, Grouper Saltimbocca, wrapped in prosciutto served with lemon sage beurre blanc, and Lobster Mac & Cheese for a decadent entree.
For carnivores, choose from Filet Mignon, wood grilled Ribeye, and Chicken scaloppine with Sherry demi-glace, mushrooms, garlic, tomato, red bliss potatoes, and asparagus.
See you in Tampa– and please tell the folks at Oystercatchers that Fred Bollaci sent you and enjoy!
