Pelagia Trattoria, celebrating nearly 15 years at Tampa’s Renaissance Hotel at International Plaza features modern Italian cuisine that starts with only the freshest and most flavorful ingredients. Pelagia is a favored choice for hotel guests as well as locals looking for a “non-chain” dining option while shopping at upscale International Plaza.
Pelagia’s Executive Chef, Brett Austin Gardiner, was previously the Chef and Co-Owner of the award-winning Restaurant Hapa in Oldsmar, joining the culinary team at Tampa’s critically acclaimed Pelagia Trattoria as sous chef in December 2011.
Gardiner came to Pelagia to oversee a larger staff and continue an on-going culinary collaboration with former co-worker, Pelagia Executive Chef Andrew Basch. The duo first worked together while at Oystercatchers at the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay, where Gardiner was lead cook and sous chef.
Features include steak, seafood, pastas, pizza, soups, and salads, the menu changes seasonally to reflect what is fresh and seasonal. All offerings at our Italian restaurant are prepared from scratch daily and are available for breakfast, lunch or dinner year-round.
Pelagia is proud to support local and Florida farmers in procuring the freshest seasonally-available produce. Among their suppliers are: Cahaba Club Farms – Odessa, K&M Farms – Ft. Pierce, B&W Growers – Fellsmere, Driscoll – Dover, 3 Boys Farm – Ruskin, Alderman Farms – Boynton Beach, and Custom Pak – Immokalee.
The wine list offers a number of good selections from the U.S., Italy, France, Australia, and New Zealand, and Pelagia offers a popular Happy Hour featuring $5 drinks and $6 appetizers (and throws in house made chips and crab dip).
Favorite salad choices include Roasted Beets with Glory Roads Farm pea shoots, candied walnuts, goat cheese, and hazelnut vinaigrette, Organic Mesclun Greens with Roasted peppers, Florida tomatoes, and fig balsamic vinaigrette, and the Caprese with local Burrata, heirloom tomatoes, and balsamic.
Top entrees include Tanglewood Farms Chicken Breast with Swiss Chard, goat cheese, and mashed potatoes, Roasted Duckling with Cherry grappa sauce, and Zellwood Farms sweet corn polenta, Grilled Florida Black Grouper with Celery root puree, and lemon caper butter sauce. Other options include a Bone-In Ribeye, Braised Lamb Shank, Grilled Filet Mignon, and Seared Diver Scallops.
There are a number of pasta choices. The Gnocchi with Three Sons Ranch wild boar ragout and house made ricotta brings back memories of Tuscany! The Squid Ink Linguine with Seared scallops, shrimp, Florida blue crab, and orange zest is a great choice, as is the Cappellaci with Butternut squash, toasted hazelnuts, brown butter, crispy sage, and ricotta salata.
Pelagia Trattoria is a Fred Bollaci Enterprises Preferred Destination and definitely worth a visit when you are in Tampa!
