Starr Boggs began his career as a chef/restaurateur on Eastern Long Island 27 years ago at the Inn at Quogue. Since then Starr has manned a number of local favorites including The Patio and 23 Sunset Ave., which was the first location of Starr Boggs.
Starr grew up on a farm on the Eastern Shore of Virginia where his family raised just about everything they ate–“farm to fork” was a way of life, before it became trendy. From this upbringing, Starr gained a lasting appreciation for fresh, local ingredients and a sense of community. Eastern Long Island is very similar to the eastern shore with regards to climate and availability of fresh, local produce and seafood.
At his namesake restaurant, Starr continues his philosophy of using fresh local products of the highest quality in every dish he creates. The menus change periodically to reflect the seasonal local bounty.
The kitchen team is headed by legendary Chef Starr, and lifelong friend Chef Frank Lucas and Chef Drew Ostipkwo. The trio have fashioned a unique menu consisting of Starr’s tried and true classics such as Crab Cakes, Almond Crusted Flounder and Thick Cut Swordfish in addition to an innovative selection of fresh seasonal creations and nightly specials.
A longtime connoisseur of fine wines, Starr Boggs has put together an impressive cellar featuring wines for all price ranges and all palates. The restaurant’s wine list is easily one of the most extensive in all of the Hamptons, featuring selections from around the world as well as local offerings from the twin forks.
The restaurant resides in a converted historic home, offering four unique venues for a comfortable dining experience, including a relaxed screened in porch (perfect for mild summer evenings), a private club room, “the place to be seen” dining room with vibrant artwork and the famed mahogany bar, Starr Boggs is a memorable dining experience! There is also a covered alfresco dining area with beautiful landscaping, gardens and a waterfall. The expansive outside bar is the perfect place to meet friends, enjoy music and dine.
No summer out east would be complete without enjoying Starr Boggs’ Monday Night Lobster Bake! The restaurant offers a an appetizer buffet, seafood bar, seasonal salads, ribs, sausage, meatballs, with the main course being a Lobster and Steak “Surf and Turf” with all the trimmings followed by seasonal dessert using the freshest local fruit!
Starr Boggs also offers a Prix Fixe tasting menu, one is called “Tastes in the Garden” which was featured on a recent visit, which included: Classic Lobster Bisque, or Starr’s Summer Gazpacho, a Butter Lettuce Salad with Danish Blue Cheese, or Granny Smith Apples, Candied Walnuts, and Champagne Vinaigrette, Grilled Eggplant with Boucheron, Roasted Red Pepper, and Basil Oil, a selection of fresh local shell fish including Peconic Bay Clams, and Baked North Shore Clams. Other favorites include the Seared Sushi Grade “Ahi” Tuna & Tuna Tartare with Beets, Avocado, and Tobiko, Starr’s Maryland Crab Cake with Spicy Corn Salad, and Sauce Rémoulade, Seared Sea Scallops with Tasso Ham, Poblano Chili Mousse, Sriracha, and Lemon Butter, and Grilled Shinnecock Calamari with Spicy Dressing, Field Greens, Roasted Peppers, Grilled Red Onion, Orange Segments, and Fennel Shavings.
