State Street is reminiscent of a Mid-Century Industrial Chic eating-house! The space, that was recently a defunct bakery has been restored to its Mid–Century bones. To the original walls we have added distressed brickwork, and elegant wallpapers. From the utilization of its original exposed rafters to the use of reclaimed lumber, iron and concrete features, State Street is urban cool meets 21st century green building!
Chef Christian Hershman’s culinary philosophy emphasizes fresh, innovative and down right delicious food, in addition to creating an overall experience.
In addition to an amazing selection featuring the best hand-crafted cocktails in Sarasota (the Blackberry Bramble is a must- tell them I sent you!), the extensive menu features the following favorites, in addition to nightly specials: New England Clam Chowder with local warm water clams, Baby Arugula Salad with shaved parmesan, and olive oil poached tomato vinaigrette, Chopped Butter Lettuce with American Blue Cheese, bacon, fresh corn, avocado, tomato, toasted walnut, and Verjus-Honey Vinaigrette, Roasted Green Asparagus topped with a fried duck egg and ricotta salata, Charred Broccolini, Braised Kale with sea salt and cracked black pepper, Roasted Sweet Potato, and House-Cured Wild Salmon Gravlax with capers and baby arugula salad are standouts among the starters.
For entrees, choices include: Sweet Potato Gnocchi with baby spinach, fresh tomato, toasted pine nuts, and aged parmesan, Sliced Flat Iron Steak, Pan Seared Wild Salmon with hashed gold potato, shallot, baby arugula, and grilled lemon, their signature Fresh Ground Burger, Slow Roasted Whole Chicken for two, stuffed with oranges and rosemary, Slow Cooked Boneless Beef Short Rib “Pot Roast” with vegetables, Braised Pork Shoulder with fresh peas, carrots, and pork gravy, and Roasted Hog Fish with thyme, preserved lemon, kale, and wild rice, among others.
