The Bedford Post Inn, a luxurious 8-room Relais & Chateaux property with two distinctive restaurants, The Barn and Campagna by acclaimed Chef Michael White and The Altamarea Group, set in the heart of beautiful Westchester County is a Fred Bollaci Enterprises Preferred Destination for dining and lodging!
The beautiful Bedford Post, an historic inn co-owned and restored by Actor Richard Gere, Carey Lowell, and Russell Hernandez, and designed by Carey Lowell and Tiffany Vassilakis offers a gorgeous, unique, and intimate setting for guests to unwind and be pampered. Guests may choose from five different room layouts, most with a working fireplace to enhance the cozy and romantic feel. All rooms are prepared with Frette linens and towels, and some rooms have a terrace which overlooks the wooded property. The Inn offers a yoga studio and classes, which are open to the public and are some of the most favored recreational opportunities in Westchester County!
The Bedford Post is nestled on 14 acres of gardens, hills, and woodlands in the heart of Westchester County, NY, less than an hour from Manhattan and minutes to the historic village of Bedford. The property boasts riding and hiking trails, and is spectacular any time of year! The grounds also feature a bucolic Zen garden, reflecting pool, and outdoor living area with a fireplace.
The nearby village of Scott’s Corners is a lovely place to stroll and browse the local shops. The cuisine reflects the inspired, seafood-centric menus of renowned Chef Michael White (see my previous write-up of Marea in Manhattan and his Altamarea Group, all Fred Bollaci Enterprises Preferred Destinations). The Bedford Post is a great spot for brunch, dinner, or better yet, a romantic weekend with someone special! Additionally, The Bedford Post is a top choice for weddings and all kinds of celebrations.
The inn was built in 1787 in the Dutch colonial style by American patriot Col. Lewis McDonald, and is one of three original structures dating to this time remaining in Bedford today. The wooden beams used in the remodeled structure were part of the original building. The inn is set on Route 121, an important route during the American Revolution! Over the course of two centuries, the property changed hands a number of times–it first became an inn in 1915, called The Bedford Green Inn. Later it changed names several times, and was abandoned in 2001. When the current owners discovered the property in 2006, it was in ruin, and marked for demolition! They decided to save the building and painstakingly restore it, turning it into an elegant, modern, comfortable oasis, opening as The Bedford Post as we know and becoming a member of the prestigious Relais & Chateaux family in 2010.
