The Bubble Room, a Captiva Island landmark, known for its funky decor, friendly service, great food, drinks, and desserts in a fun, funky, family-friendly atmosphere that the kids will absolutely love, is a must visit in Southwest Florida and is a Fred Bollaci Enterprises Preferred Destination!
The Bubble Room opened in 1979 on its present site on Captiva Island. The world famous restaurant began as just a few tables in the front room of the home of the Farqhuarson family. Today’s famous multi- theme restaurant began to take shape, starting with old toys from the 1930’s and 1940’s as its décor in the one room, the collecting began and has continued to the present day.
Many of the original items are still seen here today along with the moving trains–the one-of-a-kind decor, now taking up all three floors of the home–appeals to kids of all ages– like FAO Schwartz meets Christmas Village meets your friendly neighborhood pub, which happens to be in the middle of a tropical island! The restaurant quickly became popular with many visiting cinema stars in its early years, and photographs soon began to adorn the walls along with scenes from the big screen. The front room was decorated for Christmas and the owners decided to leave up the lights, so “its always Christmas at the Bubble Room.” The present owners have followed and developed these original ideas, adding more and more fantastic toys and decor.
In addition to the decor, music from the 1920’s, 1930’s and 1940’s plays, and The Bubble Room was one of the first on the Island to introduce the bright and cheerful tropical island-style pastel colors now widely used on Captiva Island, part of its appeal.
The restaurant features several of the distinctive original menu items offered by the Farqhuarsons, including such favorites as Socra cheese, Bubble Bread, Carolina Moons, Tarzan, Eddie Fisherman, and many of the incredible desserts (tip: bring the family or a group, you need to share)! Translated, the menu features favorites, including soups, salads, burgers, sandwiches, seafood (fresh local grouper), prime rib, and much more! The Bubble Room serves lunch and dinner 7 days a week!
