The Summer House: Chic Coastal Contemporary Top-Shelf Steakhouse in Siesta Key Village (Sarasota, Florida)


Steak house fans: I am pleased to report that The Summer House on Siesta Key (in the village) delivers with quality, aged premium and prime steaks, as well as an impressive menu of starters (Wagyu Tartare, Oysters Rockefeller, Lobster Bisque, Caesar and Beet Salads to name a few), sides, as well as seafood and other entree options. My prime aged bone-in Ribeye was an excellent example of steaks done right– flavorful, cooked to order, not a lot of fat (on a typically well-marbled steak), and succulent. Desserts were also worth the splurge (especially the cheesecake, which had us talking the whole way home about how great it way– this from New Yorkers who have a few things to say on the subject).



The Summer House takes the classics of a steak house and brings them to beachy Siesta Key, combining quality food, top notch service, craft cocktails, and a solid wine list into comfortable, yet very chic digs that remind guests they are on vacation (or at least should be in a vacation frame of mind–at least for the evening), with soaring ceilings, large tropical fish tank, and comfortable seating. Think a mix between the Sarasota School of Architecture (Midcentury Modern) crossed with Old Florida. It’s like Eames meets the Florida Keys.

The owners have over 30 years of hospitality experience with 4, soon to be 5 restaurants. The restaurant features an experienced management team with an international flair, well versed in the Food and Beverage Industry.

Long-time visitors and residents of Sarasota will know that the name Summer House is synonymous with Siesta Key, a restaurant famous in the 1980’sand 90’s (until it closed in 2004) had a rich history of creating memorable experiences, and was called an “air conditioned jungle” by Chef Paul Mattison, a local celebrity chef who made the old destination famous. The new Summer House was designed to pay homage to creating great experiences with a brand new concept. The restaurant is owned by Michael Granthon and Chris Brown, with Chef Evan Gastman overseeing the kitchen, as well as at their other restaurants, The Cottage (adjacent), The Hub Baja-Grill and The Beach House. The Summer House is a must visit for everyone who lives or vacations on Siesta Key. I will definitely be back, the combination of great food, welcoming and professional staff, and a comfortable, yet refined atmosphere makes it my top pick on Siesta Key, if you are looking for an upscale meal.

With a focus on steaks, guests will enjoy the finest hand selected cuts from the most prestigious ranches including, Niman Ranch, Revier Cattle Company and Snake River Farms. These companies are industry leaders in growing and producing some of the finest meat—all natural and self-sustained. Our hand cut steaks are specially selected, seasoned to perfection and cooked on the 1200-degree Montague Grill, simply outstanding in flavor and tenderness.



Summer House is a one of a kind building able to withstand winds more than 180 miles per hour. Renowned designer and creative genius Kurt Lucas of JKL has created this exclusive transitionally designed masterpiece.

The fish tank is a Summer House original—museum quality, 1,000 Gallons, 10,000 pounds and 14 feet long. Designed exclusively for Summer House by Sea Clear Aquariums it took over 1,100 man hours to design and build. Spectacular!!

After many hours spent tasting the finest wines in all of Napa Valley, Summer House has brought many of these classic well bodied wines to the menu, hard work for sure, but someone had to do it. Wine Sommeliers from Oregon, Napa Valley, California and Italy, have consulted with our team and created a wine list that will enhance all the menu has to offer. The Wine Cellar holds 436 bottles of wine.

Hand-crafted cocktails boasting some of Siesta Key’s finest ingredients, from Siesta Key Salt to Siesta Key Rum, as well as fresh fruits and juices. Over 20 years of mixology experience and celebrated craftsmanship help to deliver the finest beverages on Siesta Key.
