Summer In The Hamptons Begins! Keith E. Davis, Chef/Owner The Golden Pear Cafes & Catering Company

As the summer season begins in the Hamptons and all of our customers begin venturing out from NYC and beyond after such a long, cold winter and spring, they are very eager to enjoy all that the Hamptons has to offer, including beautiful beaches, bays and farmlands. Now considered a top culinary destination, the Hamptons is the home to several outstanding restaurants, cafes, gourmet food stores, seafood shops, and bakeries that provide seasonal visitors and locals alike with a wide variety of exceptional choices and cuisines.

The Golden Pear has been a player in the culinary scene here for 28 years, focusing on our healthy gourmet, American-inspired menu. Our highly visible and easily accessible cafes have become landmarks, and The Golden Pear has become one of the Hampton’s favorite neighborhood gathering places. Discerning food enthusiasts are drawn to our cafes because of our passion and commitment to preparing and serving the highest quality, healthy breakfast, lunch, and dinner offerings, as well as our private catering selections. We are also known for our baked-fresh-daily signature muffins, scones, croissants, cookies and brownies, as well as our signature line of The Golden Pear products for sale. Over the years we have developed a very loyal following and I still enjoy welcoming so many of them into our cafes all summer long.

The Friday of Memorial Day weekend is the official kick-off of the summer season. Families, friends and first time visitors appear at our café front doors seeking the best cup of coffee in the Hamptons and a fine meal. They return again and again, year after year, to enjoy The Golden Pear Cafes’ famous Southampton-Original-House-Blend-Coffee, Ultimate-Breakfast Burrito, Grilled-Chicken-Panini, Turkey & Chorizo Chili, and of course our famous Gazpacho! Our Gazpacho premieres on Memorial Day weekend and we continue to offer it through Labor Day weekend. It really is a warm weather soup that provides not only excellent nutrition, but a refreshing, cooling effect! It’s chock full of farm fresh plum tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and fresh lime juice. Our customers love to stock up their refrigerators for the weekend with our Gazpacho (and lots of other Golden Pear goodies) in case a few guests drop by and need a yummy lunch. I hope you enjoy preparing this soup and sharing with friends and family. It is quite easy to prepare and will hold in your fridge for 2-3 days. Bon Appetit!
